Chris Tarrant tests contestant’s mastery of tricky trivia, asking them to stake their winnings on each answer. If they get questions correct, they up the prize fund. Get them wrong, and they stand to lose big. The show has given away an incredible £45 million in prizes since debuting in 1998, including nearly £2 million to charity.


Get just 15 questions correct and contestants walk away with a million pound cheque. They also get three lifelines – ask the audience, phone a friend and 50/50 - to help when the going gets tough. Sound simple? Only a handful have won top prize when the pressure is on..
